Prestige Staffing is hiring a Physician Billing and Coding Specialist with a CPC for a contract to hire position. This position is a Mon - Fri 8-5 position and will report into an office daily. Excellent benefits once perm.

Location: Birmingham, AL (35243)
Pay: 20+/hr
**Athena EHR experience strongly preferred.*


Summary:

Client prefers candidates who have worked on Athena EHR software recently to work daily charges. Candidate will identify issues, correct the claims, completing, processing as well as collecting payment of all payer codes. Must provide exceptional customer service and billing knowledge while working with patients on their accounts. Experience with Primary Care is a preferred.

Qualifications:

  1. Physician billing and Coding experience
  2. Currently holds a CPC-A or CPC certification
  3. Knowledge of physician CPT and ICD 10 coding
  4. Must have recent usage of an EMR system preferably Athena EHR and PMS experience
  5. HIPAA and PHI understanding
  6. Well organized and pays close attention to details
  7. Computer literate and able to move from system to system easily
  8. High School Diploma or GED
  9. Knowledge and understanding of the claim workflows/process
  10. Knowledge of Medicare and Commercial insurances
  11. Knowledge of Capitated contracts/insurances
  12. Able to pass a criminal background and OIG
  13. 3+ years of revenue cycle experience

Essential Duties:

  • Utilizes knowledge of medical codes and coding procedures to assign appropriate diagnostic/procedure billing codes, in compliance with third party payer requirements.
  • Interacts with physicians and other patient care providers regarding billing and documentation policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Obtains clarification of conflicting, ambiguous, or non-specific documentation.
  • Enters charges and documents all activity in accordance with company documentation standards.
  • Reviews and audits provider billing and documentation records.
  • Educates providers and staff on proper coding procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with HIPAA Privacy and Security Policies and Procedures.
  • Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
