Systems Engineer – Enterprise Applications

Pay: $80,000 – 105,000 plus 18% annual bonus

Our client is a HIGHLY successful corporation in the global finance industry.  They are headquartered in Sandy Springs, GA.  They are immediately hiring for an operations Systems Engineer to join their growing department.  

The Systems Engineer is responsible for creating and maintaining availability and high-performance of various applications in mixed UNIX and Windows development, non-production, and production environments. 

The position will work as part of a team to provide top-tier support, maintenance and solution design on multiple applications, including MFT (Sterling Integrator, Axway), message queuing (Swift, IBM MQ), and reporting platforms (Business Objects, Tableau). Additionally, the Systems Engineer performs root cause analysis of problems, selects and implements automation tools, and actively participates in deeply technical disclosure. 


  • Strong initiative to learn and assimilate new software/technologies and improve business processes
  • Application support and administration for IBM Websphere, MQ, SWIFT, Sterling Integrator and File Gateway, and other applications
  • Demonstrated fundamental knowledge of Linux Operating Systems (RedHat variants preferred)
  • Demonstrated fundamental knowledge of Windows Operating Systems (2008+)
  • Fundamental understanding of the SDLC process and tools (GIT, Puppet, etc.)
  • Fundamental understanding of Operational Concepts  (DR, BCP, Prod vs. Non-Prod)
  • Functional scripting knowledge (Perl, BPML, JavaScript, Bash, Python, PowerShell and/or others)
  • Top-tier analytics and problem solving
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced service-oriented team environment

  • Communicate effectively with both technical and business resources

Preferred Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in CIS or equivalent experience in Systems Engineering/Information Technology
  • Experience in automation tool development and methodologies
  • Strong understanding of Project Management, organization and time management
  • Broad Experience with Sterling Integrator (MFT and/or EDI)
  • Basic understanding of SQL Database concepts (Oracle, MySQL)
  • Experience with LDAP systems


  • Design, plan and implementation of integrated solutions
  • Tune systems for maximum available performance
  • Respond to and assist in production operations in a 24/7 environment
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues both proactively and as discovered
  • Manage application configurations, patch Levels and Evolution Paths
  • Provide technical analysis, resolve problems, and propose solutions
  • Provide support to and coordinate with developers, operations staff, release engineers and end-users
  • Educate and mentor team members and operations staff
  • Participate in a weekly on-call rotation for after-hours support and change events
