Job Description
Prestige Staffing is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join a team at our client's healthcare facility!

Position Summary: The Medical Assistant will play a vital role in patient care by building relationships with patients through effective communication, obtaining patient information, and providing essential support to practitioners.
Responsibilities:
- Verifies patient information by interviewing patients; recording medical history; confirming the purpose of the visit.
- Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; reporting patient history summary.
- Secures patient information and maintains patient confidentiality by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; keeping patient information confidential.
- Delivers overall support for providers and clinic operations.
- Instructs patients on the collection of any necessary samples and tests.
- Gives injections and administers prescribed medications as directed by the provider and according to nursing standards.
- Observes patients, charts, and reports changes in patient's conditions, such as adverse reactions to medication or treatment, and takes any necessary action.
- Ensures that patient chart entries are made accurately and in a timely manner and forwards charts as appropriate in the electronic medical record.
- Assists with scheduling of tests and treatments.
- Arranges referrals to specialists and obtains pre-authorizations when directed by the provider.
- Prepares exam and treatment rooms for patient intake.
- Assists with lab testing and phlebotomy.
- Assists providers in preparing for minor procedures and physicals.
- Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations, and fostering a sense of teamwork.
- Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipts.
- Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs, and reporting to the Practice Coordinator.
- Serves and protects the practice by adhering to professional standards, policies/procedures, and federal, state, and local requirements.
- Exhibits professionalism and teamwork.
- Possesses the ability to quickly adapt to different situations while being efficient and well-organized.
- Demonstrates knowledge and ability to recognize emergent situations and act promptly and appropriately based on the patient's need and within the scope of practice under the direction of the charge nurse and/or provider.
Qualifications
REQUIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE
- Ability to provide patients with timely responses, clear and professional communication, and a steadfast willingness to find solutions to all problems.
- Strong communication skills, including active listening and empathy, to effectively address patient needs and concerns and coordinate care.
- Proficient in basic technology (Microsoft products, etc.).
- Ability or willingness to learn patient engagement software/customer service systems that enable omnichannel (text, phone, video, email) communication with patients and teammates.
- Ability or willingness to learn basic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
- Ability to multi-task and work independently with excellent organizational skills.
- Must possess a strong sense of professionalism.
- Must thrive in a team dynamic.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
- Ability to follow written or verbal step-by-step instructions.
- Ability to concentrate, think, and learn.
- Ability to hear, see, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, lift, push, and pull.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program or actively working towards completion.
- Administrative experience, preferably in a medical office.
