Salary: $110,000-140,000
Bonus: 10%
Hybrid in Naperville, 3 days on-site and 2 days remote
Applicants need to have Accounting Management title or higher to be considered
Notes from Assistant Controller:
- Need public then go into a corporate role, not only public experience
- Needs to be at a corp company $1 billion annual revenue or higher (ideal $5 billion or higher)
- Certs - Need to have CPA or MBA or on track for CPA
- Need minimum of 1+ years of managing experience
- Experience performance management, onboarding training. They will have a team of 3 direct reports
- This person will be doing the inside income accounting - do not need but a plus
- Need someone who is a go getter, curious thinker (analytical and can interpret data) and Financial Reporting experience
Primary Responsibilities
The Accounting Manager will lead a team of accountants and oversee the department’s daily operations such as financial reporting, month-end processes, and forecasting. This role will work closely with internal partners to ensure timely and accurate reporting of business performance. The ideal candidate will have the ability to analyze and interpret large operational data sets and will be able to understand complex business processes.
Essential Functions
DUTIES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leads and enables a team of accountants to foster an environment of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the department.
- Ensures timely and accurate reporting of financial information to management and internal stakeholders.
- Collaborates with department leaders to research and understand variance drivers.
- Prepares detailed data driven forecasts.
- Traces, troubleshoots, and strives to improve system driven accounting processes.
- Assists with and reviews month-end close entries and balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Monitors, reviews, and documents processes to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
- Assists the department with audits, tax compliance and other projects.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to analyze, report, and communicate complex accounting processes.
- Understanding of GAAP and ability to apply guidelines to real world scenarios.
- Ability to interpret financial statements.
- Curiosity and drive to understand and dig into complex business processes; ability to design new processes and analysis to answer questions about business performance
- Ability to understand information systems in order to trace and reconcile information across multiple reporting platforms.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) with a strong focus on Excel.
- Ability and willingness to work flexible and occasionally extended hours as needed.
- Ability to maintain high standards of accuracy, strong attention to detail, and assurance of compliance with company and other applicable policies and procedures.
Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills, Aptitude
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation preferred or MBA degree
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience required.
- Minimum of 1+ years of experience in managing required.
- Experience with financial reporting preferred.
