Location: Chicago, IL or Saint Charles, IL
Onsite: 5 days per week
Experience Required: 10+ years
Compensation: $150–225K base + up to 80% bonus + equity incentives
Overview
A privately held investment organization with operations across multiple states is seeking a Head of Finance to oversee portfolio-level accounting, financial reporting, and operational finance. The group acquires and manages small to mid-sized industrial and manufacturing businesses and is looking for a hands-on finance leader to partner closely with senior leadership while managing day-to-day financial operations across several entities.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead finance and accounting activities across multiple operating companies
• Oversee month-end close, reporting packages, budgeting, and forecasting
• Manage treasury, cash flow, and working capital
• Supervise a team of accountants and shared services personnel
• Support operating leaders with financial analysis and planning
• Oversee HR administration through a PEO, including payroll and benefits coordination
• Serve as internal lead for ERP oversight, optimization, and system administration
• Drive improvements in reporting accuracy, financial visibility, and operational efficiency
• Manage audit preparation and external reporting requirements
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
• 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
• Manufacturing industry experience is required
• CPA strongly preferred
• Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams
• Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with ERP systems
• Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment

Compensation
• Base salary: $150–225K
