Cardiac Device Nurse /EP RN

Prestige Staffing is looking for a Cardiac Devise or EP RN. The ideal candidate would have cardiology nursing experience. Client is willing to train on the device. The Cardiac Device Nurse provides thorough, proficient pacemaker ILR, and ICD interrogation and reprogramming to cardiac device patients in person and/or remotely.  Conducts device analysis, preliminary report generation, and alerts physician or mid-level practitioner to urgent issues requiring further attention.

Details:

  • Pay is $33 - 37/hr. DOE
  • Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm
  • No holiday, nights or on-call duty

Qualifications:
  • Licensed as Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina.
  • Current BLS and ACLS from American Heart Association required
  • Certification as a Certified Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS) from the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) preferred.  
  • 2 years of experience with checking devices in the industry, such as Biotronics, St. Jude Medical, Boston Scientific, Medtronics, Sorin, etc. a plus
  • One year experience with managing remote device transmissions and remote monitoring downloading of data and transferring to the EMR from Biotronics, CareLink, Latitude, and Merlin systems a plus

Skills/Abilities: 
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and medical instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before patients, families, physicians, or employees of organization.
  • Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.  Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as dosages, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Analytical ability to gather and interpret data and develop, recommends, and implement solutions.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Interrogate, interpret, and reprogram cardiac devices with minimal physician supervisor.
  • Troubleshoot critical device issues and take immediate steps towards resolution.
  • Collects diagnostic testing data, recognizes abnormal results and presents data to licensed provider for final analysis.
  • Collaborate with physicians regarding device status and accurately document analysis in EMR for review.
  • Educate patients on all aspects of their device including remote monitoring and follow-up protocols.
  • Monitors four web based patient care networks for daily analysis of scheduled and alerts data.
  • Ensure charges are accurately captured for device interrogation.
  • Recommend appropriate follow up for ongoing device management.
  • Assist nursing staff and non-physician practitioners in the delivery of patient teaching.
  • Keep equipment in good working condition and notify management of any problems or safety issues.
  • Ensure device rooms are adequately stocked with necessary supplies and reorder as necessary.
