Patient Insurance Advocate
The Patient Insurance Advocate serves as the insurance liaison between the clinics, patients and insurance company. The role ensures that each patients account has accurate information before their appointment and communicates follow-up needed to respective parties to ensure we can get our patients taken care of timely and efficiently.
Location: Sandy Springs
Role and Responsibilities
- Verifying insurance benefit coverage information for new and established patients.
- Obtaining authorization and referrals.
- Ensures all insurance and eligibility information is obtained and entered into the system timely and accurately.
- Ensures co-pays, deductibles and other out of pocket amounts are collected at the time of visit.
- Assesses patient financial requirements and advises patient on insurance benefits, co-pays and other financial obligation.
- Responsible for expediting the financial assistance process for patients who are unable to meet their financial obligation.
- Note accounts for front desk regarding coordination of benefits, past debt collections, residency verification and load/update copay/deductible or OOP amounts.
- Review schedules daily for expired plans, new patients and outstanding balances.
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Education Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent education and a minimum of two (2) years related experience in Registration and/or Insurance Verification in a medical setting is required.
Preferred Skills
Knowledge of medical terminology. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Good interpersonal skills and team oriented. Ability to multi-task and work effectively in teams
Computer Skills
Microsoft Office programs. Basic printing/faxing/scanning
Language and Mathematical Skills
English (reading, writing and verbal); Basic Math Skills
Physical Demands
This is a stationary position that requires frequent sitting or standing, repetitive wrist motions, grasping, speaking, listening, close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. It also may require occasional lifting, carrying, walking, kneeling, bending/stooping, twisting, pulling/pushing and reaching above the shoulder. This position also may require the occasional lifting of equipment up to 25 lbs.
