Physician Clinic in the Austin area looking to add a Surgery Scheduler / Procedure Scheduler to their team. Looking to set up interviews for qualified candidates ASAP. Seeking great customer service skills and insurance/surgical knowledge.

Position Overview:
The Surgery Scheduler plays a vital role in coordinating and scheduling surgeries for patients. This position is essential in ensuring a smooth workflow for surgical procedures by interacting with patients, physicians, and other medical staff. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, possess strong communication skills, and have a comprehensive understanding of scheduling practices, medical terminology, and insurance verification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule surgeries and procedures for patients based on physician availability, facility resources, and patient needs.
  • Communicate with patients to confirm surgery dates, provide preoperative instructions, and answer any questions related to the procedure.
  • Verify patient insurance information and obtain authorization for procedures as needed.
  • Coordinate with surgical teams, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other staff, to ensure appropriate resources are in place for scheduled surgeries.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of scheduled surgeries, patient information, and surgery outcomes.
  • Ensure all necessary preoperative testing, consultations, and paperwork are completed and documented prior to surgery.
  • Resolve scheduling conflicts and adjust procedures as necessary to accommodate urgent or emergency cases.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, and medical staff by addressing any concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Ensure compliance with all hospital and regulatory standards related to patient confidentiality and data security.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification in medical office administration or a related field preferred.
  • Prior experience in surgery scheduling or medical office administration is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and insurance processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, medical professionals, and insurance companies.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Proficiency with medical scheduling software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and a strong focus on accuracy and patient care.
