Patient Insurance Advocate
Patient Insurance Advocate
Pay: $24 - $25 per hour (Contract: 3 months, with potential for permanent placement)
Location: Sandy Springs
Summary:
Seeking a detail-oriented Patient Insurance Advocate to serve as the vital link between clinics, patients, and insurance providers. This role ensures all patient account information is accurate and complete prior to appointments, facilitating timely and efficient care. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and experience in insurance verification to support smooth financial and administrative operations within a medical setting.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in registration and/or insurance verification in a healthcare environment
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and team-oriented mindset
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Responsibilities:
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits for new and returning patients
- Obtain authorizations and referrals as required
- Ensure that all insurance and eligibility details are entered accurately and promptly into the system
- Collect co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket expenses at the time of service
- Assess and advise patients regarding their financial responsibilities and insurance benefits
- Expedite financial assistance processes for patients unable to meet their obligations
- Coordinate with front desk staff on benefits, past due accounts, income verification, and load/update copay/deductible amounts
- Review schedules daily for expired plans, new patients, and outstanding balances
- Perform other related duties as needed, including adaptations due to COVID-19 protocols
