Pay: 19-23/hr based on experience
Job Summary
The Patient Scheduler is responsible for coordinating outpatient appointments and preregistrations while ensuring accuracy and efficiency. This role involves gathering patient and insurance information, securing authorizations or referrals when needed, and providing clear instructions to patients and provider offices. Schedulers also calculate and communicate financial responsibilities, collect copays or deductibles, and refer more complex cases to appropriate departments.
Qualifications

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate required

At least one year of experience in a healthcare setting

Strong communication and customer service skills

Knowledge of insurance processes, medical terminology, and coding is preferred

Ability to problem-solve and adapt in a fast-paced, call center environment
Key Responsibilities

Interview patients and accurately capture demographic, clinical, and insurance details

Schedule, reschedule, or cancel outpatient appointments while following established protocols

Verify orders, authorizations, and referral requirements to ensure compliance

Request and process patient payments at the time of scheduling or registration

Maintain confidentiality and follow HIPAA guidelines

Collaborate with staff to resolve scheduling or financial issues and support department needs
