Instrument Sterilization Technician
Pay: $20-$22/hour (Depending on expereince)
Location: Carbondale, IL 62901
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm; Saturday, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
*Rotating days off Monday - Wednesday*
Summary:
Our client is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Instrument Sterilization Technician to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will ensure the sterility and safety of surgical instruments and equipment, supporting smooth and safe clinical operations. The position offers opportunities for cross-training in medical assistant duties, fostering a dynamic and rewarding work environment dedicated to patient care excellence.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; related certification preferred
- Previous experience in a sterilization role within a medical setting is advantageous
- Familiarity with sterilization equipment and infection control standards
- Ability to maintain accurate records and adhere to health regulations
- Strong organizational skills and excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Responsibilities:
- Sterilize surgical instruments and equipment before and after procedures
- Prepare and dispose of tissues (must be comfortable with this aspect)
- Inspect and maintain sterilization equipment, reporting any malfunctions
- Manage inventory of sterilization supplies
- Ensure compliance with health regulations and clinic policies
- Maintain detailed records of sterilization processes
- Communicate effectively with medical staff to coordinate procedure preparations
- Participate in ongoing education related to sterilization best practices
- Cross-train in medical assistant duties such as finger pricks, vital signs, and triage
