Title: Network Engineer

Summary of Position:

This position is responsible for analyzing, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining and repairing of

network infrastructure and monitoring of enterprise network. This position will be working very closely with the Infrastructure team, Database team, SharePoint Team and other teams in the ICT department. The primary responsibilities of this position are the daily support, monitoring and maintenance of enterprise network to meet business objectives and SLAs. This position also needs to maintain and document network changes and topology, and proactively identify potential network bottlenecks that needs to be improved, and provide solutions. There may be limited travel requirements to provide support to Komatsu remote offices in the US or Overseas locations. The position’s breadth of responsibility will expose the incumbent to a large variety of unique issues and challenges and Very few issues will be common or recurring. Incumbent must demonstrate a strong ability to focus on primary objectives, analyze arguments, and clarify and determine the most constructive solution.


  1. Responsible for Management, Install and Support of Enterprise Network
    1. Maintain a thorough understanding of the basics behind the Internet and its workings (DNS, Security, IP Routing, HTTP, VPN, Email Routing, SPAM, etc.)
    2. Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)
    3. Design, setup and configure complex switching environments
    4. Design, setup and configure wireless networking using Cisco Wireless Controllers that supports open or secured access and the ability to support voice and video applications.
    5. Maintain a thorough understanding of Local Area Networking
    6. Create Access List, Policies or Rules into Security Devices to protect and monitor Komatsu network and applications
    7. Follow vendor’s best practice and keep security devices Operational System current as recommended by the vendor
    8. Recommend and implement hardware OS update for the Switches and routers
    9. Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
    10. Managing assigned projects and program components to deliver services in accordance with

established objectives

  1. Provide advice and recommend network equipment for new network installation in remote offices or Technology refresh for an existing offices
  2. Respond to escalations from network or Infrastructure team to provide technical expertise by coordination with external vendor support
  3. Liaise with vendors and other ICT personnel for problem resolution

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (Qualifications):

  1. Knowledge
    1. Proven hands-on network engineering experience
    2. Demonstrate working knowledge of VTP, Spanning Tree Protocol, 802.1q
    3. Demonstrate working knowledge of Layer 2 switching and Layer 3 routing.
    4. Demonstrate working knowledge of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, OSPF, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS)
    5. Demonstrate knowledge of VoIP implementation, support and vlan tagging
    6. Demonstrated knowledge of Wireless Networking using Wireless Controllers
    7. Demonstrated knowledge of Syslog Functionality
    8. Experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools such as Solarwinds
    9. Solid understanding of Net flow data and how to use the data in troubleshooting and reporting situations
    10. Familiar with Identity management techniques
    11. Ability to troubleshoot technical issues with customers and systematically resolve complex networking and application issue
    12. Demonstrated knowledge of VPN and firewall technologies

  3. Experience
    1. 7+ years installing Cisco Routers/Switches/Wireless Controllers/Firewalls
    2. 5 + years’ experience implementing, monitoring, and maintaining technical infrastructure
    3. 4 + years’ experience implementing, monitoring, and maintaining monitoring devices
    4. 3 + years analyzing logs from different network devices
  4. Education
    1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, engineering or a related field and or relevant direct job experience

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (Qualifications):

  1. Knowledge
    1. Working knowledge of Cisco ACS server
    2. Working knowledge of Cisco ISE
    3. Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows 2008 and 2012 servers
  2. Skills
    1. Ability to meet project deadlines while handling day to day support issues
    2. Ability to design, implement and train network solutions in projects and day to day maintenance
  3. Education
    1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software design, management information systems, engineering or a related field
  4. Certifications
    1. Cisco CCNA/CCNP or higher

Travel Requirements: up to 20%
