Pay
$151,000 base salary + $15,000 bonus target — $166,000 total cash compensation
Location
Uptown, Dallas, right off McKinney — Hybrid (combination of on-site and remote work)
Summary
Seeking a highly experienced Senior SQL Engineer to join a fast-paced, innovative company with significant growth potential. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, enterprise-level databases with hundreds of databases, trillions of rows, and terabytes of data. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in SQL query optimization, database architecture, and building large-scale databases from scratch. You will be a key player in agile teams, collaborating with developers, product owners, and business analysts to drive projects forward and ensure robust database solutions.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience with SQL Server (2019 or 2022)
- Extensive T-SQL programming expertise, including writing complex queries, stored procedures, and functions
- Proven experience designing and developing enterprise-level databases from scratch, especially large OLTP transactional systems
- Strong understanding of database architecture, performance tuning, indexing, and data migration
- Demonstrated ability to optimize large data queries and manage multi-gigabyte databases
- Experience working within Agile development teams
- No extensive background in OLAP, ETL, or SSIS; focus on building and scaling databases from ground-up, migrations, and large data structures
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to handle multiple complex projects simultaneously
Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize complex SQL queries across large data sets
- Design and implement scalable, high-performance database architectures from scratch
- Reverse engineer existing SQL code and data flows for improvements
- Create stored procedures, triggers, views, and functions for varying business needs
- Manage performance tuning and query optimization for enterprise databases
- Collaborate across cross-functional teams including .NET engineers, product owners, and business analysts
- Support large database migrations and scale-out implementations
- Continuously research and apply new strategies for database performance and reliability improvements
- Contribute to agile development cycles, delivering high-quality database solutions
